Gov. Perdue Vetoes Health Care Bill

Although the legislature passed the “North Carolina Health Care Protection Act, Gov. Perdue vetoed it, citing questions about the bill’s constitutionality, necessity and unintended consequences.

On Wednesday, the N.C. House sustained the veto.

“This is an ill-conceived piece of legislation that's not good for the people of North Carolina,” Gov. Perdue said last week when she vetoed the bill.

By doing so Gov. Perdue finds herself in the minority as thirty other states have challenged the Federal Health Care law and litigating until a decision on its Constitutionally is determined by the Supreme Court.
